My vision as a sleep consultant is to empower families with the knowledge, tools, and support they need to establish healthy sleep habits for their children ages 0-6 years old, so that they can thrive and reach their fullest potential. I believe that every child deserves restful, restorative sleep, and that it is crucial for their overall physical, emotional, and cognitive development. Through compassionate and evidence-based guidance, I aim to help families create sustainable sleep solutions that are tailored to their unique needs, values, and parenting styles. My vision is to see families confidently and joyfully embrace sleep as an essential component of their child's well-being, leading to improved family dynamics, enhanced quality of life, and brighter futures for both children and their caregivers alike.
My husband and I both have had success in our careers and devoted much of our time to that. In the end of 2018 we got pregnant after deciding we were ready to start our family but unfortunately we miscarried after a couple of months. This was a very difficult time as you can imagine for us but we knew we still wanted a family. Several months later we both got relocated for our jobs to a new area, where we took a leap on faith moving with no family or friends there. Within weeks of being there we discovered that we were pregnant. We were so blessed and thankful. It didn’t really hit us till months into the pregnancy that we didn’t have our family or tribe near us to help and we were going to have to really lean on each other and figure it out.
Then the COVID shutdown hit just several weeks after having our daughter. We had no family or friends to come by and help us and didn’t really know anyone where we moved to because we worked all the time. We took every class we could in preparation for our daughter’s arrival but when she got here we struggled the most on how to get her to sleep in her bed. For weeks we were sleep deprived taking turns holding her back and forth for hours at a time. Same story we hear from a lot of parents. Then one day I took her to a fourth trimester class with me when she was about 7 weeks and the nurse there told me she was a sleep trainer and of course I was shocked because I was unaware that there was such a thing.
I started to do some research and found a Sleep Consultant and she changed our lives! She virtually walked us through proper steps and habits to help building a sleep plan for our daughter. I was so amazed that at 10 weeks our sweet daughter was sleeping in her room in her bed on her own. I was told time and time again that in about 6 months your baby will learn to start sleeping through the night. Of course you can imagine that I cried a lot because I couldn’t imagine my husband and I holding her in our bed for months. Our sleep consultant gave us something back that I didn’t think I would see for a long time and that was sanity and peace. Knowing our daughter was sleeping on her own through the night, minus the occasional teething nights and growth spurts changed everything for our family.
Being a mother, I have heard so many stories from mothers and families who struggle getting their babies and or toddlers to sleep through the night on their own. I was so encouraged in helping other families which drove me to become a Certified Sleep Coach with the Sleep Lady herself. Being on the edge of postpartum myself is another reason why being a Gentle Sleep Coach was so important for me. I want to help give families some balance and rest for the whole family no matter how your family chooses to sleep. Knowing that you don’t have do this on your own and that it's ok to ask for help changed our lives and I believe it will change yours too.
